Items for the Museum Collection, sponsorships and all levels of membership and gifts are appreciated.How to Give
Memorial and Tribute Gifts. Memorial Gifts are a thoughtful way to honor the memory of a loved one by making a gift to the Museum. A Tribute Gift is a way to honor a person or celebrate a special occasion like a birthday, anniversary or graduation. The Museum sends an acknowledgement card to the honoree or family of the honoree.
Planned Gifts. You may be considering a future gift to the Museum through your will or estate plan. Please contact the Museum if you are thinking of making a charitable planned gift.
Corporate Sponsorships. Special events can be sponsored at varying funding levels.
Artifact or Archive Donations. Exhibits are greatly enhanced by actual artifacts, the Museum is actively seeking items to add to the collection. If you have are aware of items that tell the story of Cedar Hill that may be available, please contact us.
Private Collection "Adoption Record". For artifacts that are being enjoyed by the family, we would appreciate being allowed to document them and trace the item’s history. This “adoption record” will allow the community to enjoy Cedar Hill’s history through your family history. Inheritance cards will be provided that can be attached to the artifact. The Museum appreciates your cooperation in letting others know of our collection and efforts to share the story of Cedar Hill.
MONETARY CONTRIBUTION
The Cedar Hill Museum relies primarily on financial contributions and membership dues to cover the costs of our programs. Your contribution helps sustain Cedar Hill’s sense of community.
The Cedar Hill Museum provides a venue for exploration of the unique history and culture of the Cedar Hill region through exhibits, tours, research, educational programming, family fun days and other special events. Volunteer
Are you interested in local history? If so, please join our team of volunteers and help bring the past into the future. Fill out our volunteer form today or contact us by one of the following methods. listRESEARCH, WRITING AND EDITING
This work is continually being done for use in temporary exhibits and in the future museum.
CATALOGING COLLECTION
This is an ongoing project of digitizing, cataloging and organizing the growing collection of artifacts, photographs, documents and books.
DOCENTS
Provide a general overview of Cedar Hill’s history at the Government Center lobby, the Zula B. Wylie Library or our display room and office at Hughes Chapel (332 Cedar Street). Another opportunity is to visit special interests groups or students in their classrooms utilizing the Loan Kit of photographs and artifacts.
WALKING TOUR GUIDES
Tell the story of over 25 sites on the 2.2 mile historic route.
PROJECT COORDINATOR
Help organize a local history themed program.
SEAMSTRESSES
Create costumes for reenactors and storytellers.
COUNTRY DAY ON THE HILL
Organize children’s games, arts and crafts.
COLLECTIONS ASSISTANT
Learn about the Museum’s collection, database, how objects are accessioned and stored. Help with inventory of objects, database entry and object display.
EXHIBITS ASSISTANT
Assist in research, determine content, objects and photographs for temporary exhibits. Install exhibit components, mount photos, create text panels and graphics. Individual should enjoy researching history and have ability to work independently with some assistance.

Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer for the CHMH will be required to complete an application in order to evaluate skills, needs and commitment level, as well as to give the volunteer an opportunity to see where they can be of service within the museum.
Requirements for application:
- Must be 16 years of age or older. If under 18, must have parental consent.
- Able to commit at least one year to the program.
- Have access to the Internet.
- Participate in training.
- Pass a reference and background check.
- Become a member of the CHMH.
Application process: Fill out and return an application and skills inventory sheet. An interview will be set which will be a two-way communication process. It provides an opportunity for both parties to assess each other to determine how the volunteer will best fit in the operations of the Museum.
